The report and Girls’ Rights Platform reveals the extent to which international law overlooks girls’ rights, and calls on the international community to:
- Address girls’ double burden of gender- and age-based discrimination. - Bridge the gaps between women’s and children’s rights that render girls invisible. - Ensure that international policy and agreements reflect the challenges that girls face. - Urge States to comply with international standards that advance girls’ rights.
This picture taken by Kenyan photographer Armstrong Too, shows girls fetching water during the day. Many girls around the world miss hours or even entire days of school because of such tasks. This image was part of an exhibition held by Plan International for International Day of the Girl on 11 October 2016.
