IRIN, a nonprofit newsroom reporting from the heart of conflicts, disasters, and other humanitarian crises, launched a new brand identity today: The New Humanitarian
First founded as an information department of the UN in 1995, IRIN became a fully independent media organization in 2015. It is one of only a handful of newsrooms in the world specializing in the coverage of crises and disasters, as well as reporting on the aid industry.

The children’s storybook is collection of worldwide tales, popular to different regions. The tales work together and highlight some of the global challenges humanity faces today, such as hunger, human rights, discrimination, education, women empowerment, migration and climate change. The stories we know, therefore, don’t follow the traditional route; rather they are adapted to fit into the modern day framework.

8 March marks International Women's Day. In this impetus, the Geneva Environment Network convenes you to the high-level panel discussion addressing “Women, Girls, and the Triple Planetary Crisis” through the lens of climate change, biodiversity loss, human rights, gender, and innovation. Along the same path, the WTO organizes “A Conversation between European Central Bank President, Christine Lagarde and WTO Director-General, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.” The photojournalist Nana Heitmann followed, 16-year-old, Divya Chaudhry’s quest to study for a career in science encouraged by youth empowerment groups, and the support of her parents. Here, Divya poses with her sister Saniya next to their village, Turki, Madhya Pradesh, India in November 2022.

The Commonwealth is a voluntary association of 54 independent states that aims to promote democracy, good government, human rights and economic development. The Commonwealth is present in Geneva through its Permanent Delegation to the United Nations. In 2011, the Commonwealth opened a new office in Geneva, offering working spaces and services to some of its small Member States. Anuja De Silva, from the Permanent delegation of the Commonwealth in Geneva, tells us more about it.
