As a follow-up to the UNECE Mayors' Forum, the Geneva Cities Hub is organizing the conference debate "The work of the UN regional commissions with mayors: good practices, current and future perspectives." This event will bring together representatives of the UN regional economic commissions and mayors from these regions to take stock of the Forum, share their sustainable urban development practices, and identify opportunities that would contribute to greater involvement of mayors at the international level. The project aims at including the IP component in all IOM’s efforts to create entrepreneurship skill among migrants in the LAC region. The capacity building phase is envisaged to start on the first week of February 2025. It will include a tailor-made training, an intensive learning experience (boot camp) aimed at empowering participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to use IP to scale their businesses effectively, and a mentoring process for selected participants.

On 10 – 11 May, Geneva will host the GIS for a Sustainable World Conference. Based on Geospatial technology in the form of Geographic Information Systems, this merging of data, people and methods aim to share knowledge and respond better to global challenges. In conjunction with the GIS conference, the WHO launches today, 9 May, the WHO GIS Centre for Health, to assist the health sector in its efforts "to respond to an outbreak, track vaccine delivery, collect samples, and explore spatial patterns in areas of case reporting." The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) holds the World Cancer Congress in Geneva from 18 to 20 October. Through a multidisciplinary program that presents the latest successful interventions in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care, experts and leaders will deliver a suite of innovative and interactive sessions covering the full spectrum of cancer control. Nancy Borowick spent years photographing her parents undergoing parallel treatments for stage four cancer. This multi-rewarded intimate family story is part of the book entitled "The Family Imprint: A Daughter's Portrait of Love and Loss," Hatje Kantz publishing, and will be shown at the Xposure festival in February 2023.
