The Geneva Environment Network (GEN) is a cooperative partnership of more than 100 environmental and sustainable development organizations based in the Geneva region. To mark GEN’s 20th anniversary, a special PechaKucha Night and High-Level Discussion on the role of Geneva in placing the environment on the highest political agenda will be organized on 25 and 26 November 2019 at the International Environment House II.

Young Reporters at UNOG opens the door of the United Nations in Geneva to high-school students (16-19) interested in international affairs to engage with experts from different organizations in a press briefing setting. Each session is topical (i.e. covering issues related to food, water or international development) and 2-3 representatives from organizations working in that area come to talk about their work and current issues.

From 30 August to 2 September 2022, UNODA convenes the 10th meeting of States Parties (10MSP) to the Convention on Cluster Munitions in Room XIX at the Palais des Nations. From 23 to 25 June, the Academic Council of the United Nations (ACUNS)https://acuns.org/annual-meeting-2022/, in collaboration with the Graduate Institute and UN Geneva, will hold its annual meeting under the theme "Evidence-Based Solutions for Intensifying Global Challenges." The conference's purpose is to bring together scholars and practitioners active in the work of the UN to apprehend and address global challenges. On 12 and 13 April, the WHO is organizing the first round of two public hearings under the guiding question: “What substantive elements do you think should be included in a new international instrument on pandemic preparedness and response?" The public input aims to support the work of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body to draft and negotiate an international instrument to strengthen pandemic responses. The Parties to the Aarhus Convention and Parties to the Protocol on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers (PRTRs) are meeting from 18 to 22 October 2021. Marking the 20th anniversary of the entry into force of the Aarhus Convention, this session will provide a multi-stakeholder platform "to discuss the challenges in promoting environmental democracy, digital transformation, and sustainable development." Magnum photographer Mark Power took those blocs of waste, in 2018, at the Paprec recycling plant, France.

Tool to strengthen synergies and improve coordination to support Member States in achieving the SDGs
The UN Office at Geneva has mapped out the expertise on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) found across international organizations, NGOs and other institutions based in Geneva. This has been envisioned as a tool to help strengthen synergies, improve coordination to support countries achieve the SDG and provide Member States an overview of “who is doing what and where”. Over 75 organizations participated in the initial mapping exercise.
