Les Semaines des réseaux et des partenariats humanitaires (HNPW) organisées chaque année par le Bureau de coordination des affaires humanitaires (OCHA) et la Direction du développement et de la coopération (DDC) se tiendront du 17 au 28 avril 2023. Depuis sa création en 2015, cette conférence offre un espace aux praticiens et aux experts pour se rencontrer et favorise une approche collaborative pour relever les défis communs en matière de préparation et de réponse aux situations de crises. La scène ci-dessus a été prise par Peter van Agtmael à l'hôpital de Bab al-Hawa, en Syrie, au lendemain du tremblement de terre qui a frappé la Turquie et la Syrie en février 2023.

Pour marquer son 45ème anniversaire, l'APT organise le 15 novembre- conjointement avec la commune de Chêne-Bougeries - une conférence-débat consacrée à son fondateur Jean-Jacques Gautier : son engagement pour prévenir la torture. Convaincu qu'il serait possible de prévenir la torture en ouvrant les portes de tous les lieux de détention à un contrôle externe, Jean-Jacques Gautier fonde en 1977 le Comité suisse contre la torture, aujourd'hui l'APT. L'idée d’un système de visites des lieux de privation de liberté est d’abord réalisée en Europe en 1987 puis l’APT réussit à convaincre la communauté internationale de la pertinence d'un protocole facultatif à la Convention de l’ONU contre la torture (OPCAT), adopté en 2002.

Du 27 février au 4 avril 2023, le Conseil des droits de l'homme tient sa 52e session ordinaire. La plus haute instance des Nations unies dédiée à la protection et à la promotion des droits de l'homme marquera le 35e anniversaire de la Déclaration sur le droit au développement et organisera notamment une série de réunions de haut niveau portant sur les droits et la participation des jeunes, la question de la peine de mort, le racisme, les droits des personnes handicapées et les droits de l'enfant. Vous pouvez regarder la session en direct sur UN Web TV. Ces enfants qui jouent ont été photographiés en septembre 2020, par Emin Ozmen, dans la province de Mardin, en Turquie, à la frontière avec la Syrie, où des milliers de Syriens ont trouvé refuge depuis le début de la guerre.
