CERN opens its doors for Researchers' Night.
Researchers' Night at CERN, a free and fun bilingual event, will happen this year on Friday, 28 September 2018. This is the ninth year that the world's largest particle physics laboratory has opened its doors to the public for this great European celebration of science. In 2017, it attracted more than a thousand visitors. This year, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., the event will offer even more animations to familiarize the public with its activities.

There will be two workshops for young and old, one of robotics, and the other aimed to build a cloud chamber, a kind of particle detector. CERN's first particle accelerator, the Synchrocyclotron, will be opened for guided tours. Thanks to virtual reality headsets, the visitors will also be able to take a tour of the CMS detector and Data Centre. Two spectacular shows will introduce the public to fundamental physics. CERN researchers will finally present their experiments through interactive demonstrations.

The Globe of science and innovation will display a selection of the latest science movies. The evening will end with a screening of the most recent feature film on CERN, "Almost Nothing: CERN Experimental City", an award winner at the last Nyon Visions du Réel film festival. Director Anna de Manincor will be present to share her experience and answer questions.

The event will be broadcasted on Facebook Livefor people who cannot get to CERN. CERN researchers will answer all of their questions.

Full program of activities and webcast available on www.cern.ch/night.
